Visit at the Hope School

It's been last Friday when we met with the students and Thanh and Diep (principal and vice principal), but we are currently travelling up north. Again it did not go according to plan, but that is another story.

First of all we got a disk with lots of wonderful photos from the Christmas party. Then we discussed how it all went and thanked the teachers for their help.

We then had a look around the different class rooms. The kids were practicing different routines for next Friday, the TET holiday break up celebrations. Wonderful scatches and dance routines. We had lots of fun watching. Try to upload some photos later.

At the Hope school we support two girls who have heart problems, both are named Nhu. One of them, little Nhu has another medical condition, but the parents do not have the means to even have a GP check the girl out.

In order to be able to get to the bottom of it we dicided to establish a Medical TRUST Fund for the Hope School Children. Initially we put $600 into the fund, which is the equivilant to roughly VND 13 millon. Nhu can now go and see a GP or a specialist, whatever is required and Thanh, the principal said that she will go with the parents to the GP and will make sure we get a propper report. We hope to see a report before we go back home.

The Saigon Children Charity is supporting the Hope School as well. They will buy seven LCD TV screens to be installed in the class rooms. We offered to buy one or two, but it is lap tops they are needing ... the faster one's preferred.

Hope School has school holidays from the 16th of Jan until the 27th. On the 24th we meet with the teachers for a TET holday celebration.
