Visiting the Hope School for Hearing Impaired Children

Our first visit to the Hope school this year. It was good to see Than (principal) and Diep (vice principal) again after nearly a year.
A year is a long time when you talk about school children. A lot has happened.

The Hope school received an award from the government. Only 100 schools in VN were awarded, eight in Sai Gon and the Hope school is one of them !!! Congratulations !!!

Sennheiser hearing / teaching aid systems were donated to us. Today we handed them over to the school. Will have a practice test next week when the batteries are fully charged.
These Sennheiser hearing aid systems were donated to us.
School is already using another system which is very expensive.

We discussed individual cases. One of the students, Nhat had a brain tumor and was operated on in June. He is back at school but it seems that his future is uncertain. Will meet with Nhat next week and see how we can help.

Nhat did not enjoy vocational training away from the school. He now does training on the job at the school helping in day to day jobs/ tasks like cooking, doing the dishes, cleaning, maintenance and all sort of work that needs doing around a school.

NAM: Last year we met Nam, he was in kindergarten, now in year one. Nam needed two hearing aids. CVSG raised funds for his hearing aids. We were surprised how good his hearing was when we met him today.

Look at that bright smile ... you got to love him !!!
His hearing and also his pronunciation has improved a lot since last year.

Counting ... even we were able to understand when he counted 1 - 5 ... that is our VN limit!!!

Hi FIVE before he left ... will see him again next week. Great kid !!!
