German Luncheon at Phil and Fran's

Fundraiser Luncheon to support underprivileged children in Vietnam

On Saturday, the Coolum Vietnam Support Group held their traditional German Luncheon. People came as far as Wurtulla to have the culinary experience created by Coolum “Master chef” Uli. We had was a wonderful day, a truly finger licking experience, first the German sausages, then Leberkaes (German meat loaf) followed by loin ribs with Sauerkraut. People were queuing … and came back for seconds. But the main attraction was our dessert, a slab of Black Forest Cake … freshly made on the day by the Swiss Bakery in Marcoola. It was out of this world … Markus always excels!!! We had about 55 adults and 13 children … a beautiful mix of people from all walks of live.

The reason for this feast was simply to raise funds for disabled and underprivileged children in Saigon and the Mekong delta. Members of the Coolum Vietnam Support Group go to Vietnam in August for six weeks.

On Saturday we found four new individual sponsors who signed up for educational support for a child for one year. That is a great result, but we still got eleven children … WAITING for a sponsor!!!

Educational sponsorship is only $125 a year, which is less than $ 0.35 a day!!! That is truly affordable, we think. It is lot less than what the big charity organisations charge. CVSG does not have any admin costs or overheads. Members pay there own way.

CVSG have a web site, a blog and are on face book. Here is how you can find us:
