I love you, Little Nhu ... Sunday 2/9

Sunday, we got the chance to visit little Nhu again. We can't wait, three days after her heart surgery. She spent only a little more than a day in ICU. We were glad to heard she was out of ICU, but we still did not know any details about the operation.

The heart surgeons said before her operation that Nhu had three major problems:

- Open-heart valve

- Narrow pulmonary artery

- Ventricular septal defect describes one or more holes in the wall that separates the right and left ventricles of the heart. Ventricular septal defect is one of the most common congenital (present from birth) heart defects. 

Nhu got a bag with goodies form Australia today. She liked the little Koala.

This is no terrorist, Matt has got a cold, so he was wearing a mask.

During open heart surgery the surgeons found NO problem with her heart valve !!! This reduced the operating and recovery time dramatically. We only found out today. Anyway it is good news and Nhu seems to be doing ok. Nhu was a lot quieter at first, but then she was up to her usual tricks. She is allowed to eat normally but only small portions at a time.

Nhu is in the process of telling us how old her younger brother is.

5 years old, it is not easy when you are hearing impaired !!!

10 am Diep, the vice principal at the Hope school for hearing impaired children cam to our hotel. We took a taxi to the Heart institute. Nhu is now in a different room. When she saw us she had a big smile on her face. We did not bring any food because we did not know what she was allowed to eat.

We have to thank Diep again for taking us to see Nhu on Independence day.

Nhu is fine, she has some pain ... which is to be expected. She has a big dressing all over the her chest. Diep tried to show it to us, but Nhu did not like that ... and she resisted!!! She is a character ... took some photos ... and some with us ...

Nhu's mother wanted that, as well as a photo of the family who is sponsoring Nhu. We will organise that and get it printed here so we can give it to her mother for keepsake.

We also handed over $ 200 in Vietnamese Dong to Nhu's mother. Will visit her again on Wednesday ...
