Our annual trip to the Mekong Delta - part 1

Saturday, 7th of Sep 8 am - 1 pm

Oh what a wonderful morning ... oh what a wonderful day -  just to start with another musical theme !!!

We went to Ba Ton first to visit the 20 children we have been supporting for three years now, thanks to our beautiful supporters at home.

Ba ton is over two hours drive from Sai Gon. Just before we reach our destination we are driving for 15 minutes on a one lane, 2.5 m wide road along one of the arms of the Mekong. Then we had to cross the river ...

Giving us a strong hand ...

Everyone was ready ... waiting for our arrival. We were greeted with very individual "WELCOME speeches"

Hong Ngoc thanked us for the support she received when she had cancer

Another beautiful CAM ON - thank you speech

Hong Ngoc had very good marks even so she was sick, she received a pre loved lap top
By the way, all lap tops we have brought to Viet Nam are still working fine !!! This is wonderful as it gives the students more opportunities to learn  ...

Tra, a new student, his marks were way above average, 9.6 out of 10
!!!

Tran Than Tra earned his pre-loved lap top. He studied hard, despite very difficult living conditions. His father passed away, his mother is nearly blind. When he comes home from school he has to do the cooking and other house work. The family is depending on the kindness of other people for their survival.
CVSG now support not only his school fees, we also have arranged for a monthly payment to the Tra and his mother.
We are looking for an individual sponsor for TRA. See our website for details, thanks

Hien, she is strong ... she opened the coke bottle!!!

Tra is a happy chappy ... he got a lap top !!!
Three students from Ba Ton will finish High School next year. We have offered them our support if the get a selected to study at Uni.

Then it was time to say our good byes and take a quick group photo, back to the river, hop is the boat ... and off we went to My Trung.

Hien is holding hands with Uli, walking back to the river !!! She is such a darling.

Waving "Good bye" for another year and blowing kisses!!! Does it get any better ??? NO

Typical Mekong delta view
