Oh so true. We had ADVENTURE PURE ! ! ! We had a wonderful time with Hoan's family. It was hard to say GOOD BYE ... but we also said "See you NEXT YEAR".

Hoan had organised for us to go back to Sài Gòn by taxi as no mini bus was available. Hoan had fixed a price for us with a local taxi. Driver had problems finding Hoan's place.
Taxi was not up to scratch ... but we put up with it. The driver seemed ok at first, but on the wider roads his top speed was 40 ... so everyone beeped and flashed the lights. He then took side roads again ... same speed.
What can I say ... that is him "Mr NOT a Taxi driver" at work |
We finally got to the Express way. He had no idea when to pay or what to do. Same problem again, he was doing 50 - 60 k/h, but this time on the left lane. CHAOS ... it was terrible. We talked to him ... no reaction, no change. When he then decided to go faster ... he nearly lost control then slowed down again driving in the middle of the road between both lanes. We were looking at each other and prayed.
Anyway, we finally made it, left the motorway and going towards Sài Gòn. Again 4 lane road ... he had no idea what to do. At the first exit he drove to the right and was going toward the narrow motor bike lane ... I screamed NOOOO and grabbed the steering wheel. Directing the car towards the exit lane. After 300 meters the was a MaiLinh taxi stand with 4 or 5 taxis waiting. I asked the driver to stop right here, and he did. He thought he could ask for directions, but as quick as a flash we jumped out of the taxi.
Now a kerfuffle started ... and was in full swing in no time. We explained to the MaiLinh drivers what happened and that the driver was completely lost and out of his depth.
Never ever again ... |
The sun taxi driver then wanted his money. VND 1.200.000. No way I told him. I got 600.000 VND out of my wallet but he did not want it, it was not enough. Too bad. I put the money in the car and walked towards the MaiLinh taxis. He started yelling ... and I turned around and screamed at him. He turned around.
One of the MaiLinh taxi drivers was very helpful and understanding. We climbed into his 7 seater which felt like a RR compared to the little whatever it was. Anyway, before we took off he asked if we would give the sun taxi driver another VND 100.000. Ok, ok ... so we did. AUD 5.50 and off we went. Ten minutes later we arrived at our hotel. I told the MaiLinh driver I was sorry that I screamed ... and he gave me a big hug when we got out of the taxi. Thank you LORD for binging us home safely !!!
