After a sleep deprived night … noisy neighbours … we had a bonza breakky and then went into town to meet with our friends @ the CBA Branch. Anh greeted us with joy … long time no see … she will be missed, Anh resigned. Anyway, she was very helpful. We simply forgot our VINA pin numbers … and without a PIN … no money. It cost us $3 each, but wait … something that is unheard of in AUSTRALIA, we received OUR new PIN within 15 MINUTES !!!
We then walked towards the park to pick up a cab to take us back towards the hotel. When we arrived at the park we saw a lot of big banners all over the park with pictures and slogans about AGENT ORANGE – or DIOXIN. August the 7th marks the 50th anniversary of Agent Orange being used in Viet Nam.
When we looked closer there were lots of enlarged photographs of disabled children, and we could not believe our eyes, “OUR” children from the PEACE ORPHANAGE. It was extremely moving. Matt walked around the park and took plenty of pictures. We put those up separately ... see next POST!!!
Finally we hopped in a taxi and went to our friend’s office near the hotel. We wanted to surprise them. Little did we know that the office had moved.
Walking home we pictured people throwing money out of a second floor window … and lots of adolescents jumping up to catch the falling DONG bills.!!!
After lunch we caught up with Hien @ another office in Binh Thanh district. It was so good seeing her again; we had lots of things to catch up with. Taxi back to hotel in peak hour traffic … Matt without his camera … not a happy Matty.
